Have I shown off my seat belt before? Mom makes me wear it on car rides more than just a couple miles away. But I don't mind, since I don't really ever move from my spot. Unless mom gets out of the car. Then, I want to follow her! But most times she's just putting gas in the car, so she's never gone too long.
And when I get back in the car from playing at the dog park, she always puts a treat on my seat. See it in the pictures? But I obviously don't always eat it right away.
I have to be in the mood.
Mom just heard about a friend who came back from a store to see that her dog that had been left in the car had gotten tangled up in her leash. She thought for a minute that she'd strangled herself! How scary! That's why mom never leaves a leash on me while she's not around. That dog is fine, but mom said that now she's going to be extra careful after hearing that story. I'm going to be secure in my seat belt at all times!

Mom got mine at PetCo, but they're available at PetSmart and other pet supply stores for cheaper. Mom likes PetSmart the best, and kicked herself for not waiting to buy mine there. Oh well, she was a new dog owner at the time and hadn't done any price comparisons!

Laney, I have to tell your that your post has caused me great distress. Not only can I not stop thinking about that treat you aren't eating, but now my Dad is wondering if I need to be restrained in the car. Both are very troubling.
hey Laney girl. I wear a seat belt. I have one just like that and one that has fleece on the chest straps. (Scooter is too small for one, he rides in a small crate Mom buckels in with the car seatbelt through the handle) ANYWAY-the point is, with both of them, if I move around, I can get tangled up. Mom isn't sure how to fix this. The loop you put the car seatbelt through is what I can get twisted around, then everything goes whonkeyjawed. I'll have to get Mom to get pics sometime. She could never leave me in the car with that on either-

My Mama says I need a seatbelt because I always manage to poke my nose in her face when she's driving. But I love to drive with my head out the window and I won't be able to do that with a seatbelt! What should I do, Laney?

Gizmo - I didn't mean to cause any distress! I just want you all to be safe! And if I saw you eating my treat, of course, THEN I'd want it.
Sunny - You sound like a contortionist! Mine makes me feel stuck enough that I just sit there or lay down.
Addie - No, I don't have doggles, but I've never cared to stick my head out the window. I just stick my nose up in the air if mom has the windows down.
Chef - You're a big enough dog, that I bet you could still reach the window if you had a seat belt! Mine just has a loop that the car seat belt goes through, so I have some reach if I tried.
Mom leaves our leashes on us in the car all the time! Maybe she better rethink this! Thanks for the tip, Laney!
