Well, mom had tickets to see another movie last night, this time about another superdog (
Bolt). But guess what?! She said she'd rather stay home and be with me! She was gone a couple hours the night before, and said she felt guilty enough about that. She can't stand to be away from me for very long in the evenings. I have Mom trained pretty well.
Though I wasn't much fun last night, considering mom was trying to make me potty out in the side yard instead of the front yard. She let me out every 30 minutes or so, but I held it all evening till I could go out front!
Mom is getting frustrated. She even dug up a patch of grass and put it where she wants me to go. But I barely gave it a sniff. Mom says since I'm both Shar Pei and Beagle, two stubborn breeds, that I'm twice as stubborn.
Maybe if I have a friend over who potties out there, I may eventually try to cover it up... Giz or Sandy, you may have to come over soon!

My Mommy hates to leave me as well & she feels horrible when she does! Has your mommy tried a pee stick? It is scented & you just put it where you want your doggie to go & they will go because of course they want to mark they're territory.

Eduardo - Yes, mom tried one of those. But she recently returned it to PetSmart, as that didn't work either. I smelled it and tried to chew on it.
Yuck!
It wasn't a toy!
It's okay to be particular. Maybe a pee pad on the area would help you decide. I'm very upset my mom has to work so I stay right near her all night.

Uh, mom tried that too. She caught my pee one time out front with it. Carried it to the side yard and placed it there. The next time I was out there I smelled it and then ignored it.
She also bagged my poop and left it next to the pee pad.
My powers of ignoring baits and holding my pee are insurmountable!
Do you have any brothers or sisters? You are so chubby. Cutie.
Mom got me at the Humane Society where I was a stray, so she doesn't know where I came from. She's been on the lookout for other Shar Pei/Bealges like me. But right now, it's just me!
I'm glad you got lucky Laney. You look too sweet to not have a forever home.
We have our mom and dad pretty much trained to stay at home with us too! Renting movies and eating popcorn as a family is much nicer, don't you think, Laney?!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
Hi Laney
You are irresistable. Those pictures are gorgeous.
Mom goes out with me all the time. She tries to bring me along the fence line to pee. I'm trained to pee on command so I go wherever mom tells me.
Mom likes to stay home with me too, or bring me with her.
Guess what. I'm having my first pigs ear right now. It's scrumptious.
Love Ruby
Hi, Laney!
Yes, you are irresistible!
My mom has not gone out at night for almost 3 years!
She does not like to leave me alone at night!
My mom used a spray at the place she wanted me to go potty and it worked.
Kisses and hugs

I'll bet mom or dad would bring me over for a play date sometime. In fact, dad said he would be willing to leave me over there for a week or two. We'd have a great time! And, I tinkle all over the place, so I would get that back yard of yours broken in.
Maggie and Mitch - I totally agree. And mom likes that I've become a lot more of a cuddler while she watches tv too!
Ruby - Your first pig ear! Cool! I wonder how long yours will last?
Lorenza - What kind of spray was that? Just pheramones?
Giz - I don't think your mom and dad could bear to be away from you for a whole week! bol
But yes, I think mom needs to set up a play date here when the parents get too wimpy to stay outside with us at the park.
Lois,
Sure you are definitely irresistible~
Hey, looks like you have a very sweet dream~ care to share? ^_^

I've been away for too long. Am making up for it. Come by my blog and pick up your award...
You are totally irresistable, Laney. Sigh. Tell you Mom to block off a small spot and stand there with you while your bladder is full, even if it takes an hour til you pee. Do that a few times and you'll get the message. Good luck.
I have an award for you on my blog. Come by and pick it up when you have a chance.

I didn't know you are a cross between a sharpei and a beagle! You definitely inherited the best of both breeds and that makes u ultra irresistible. I can understand why your mom feels guilty leaving you alone at home. Love, Dino
WOW! Laney is great!I have a pretty new shar pei beagle mix too. They look very similar.
Andrew- Wow, is right! I saw your pictures of Cleveland (I'm guessing that's the name), and other than coloring they look a lot alike! Though Cleveland does look quite a bit thinner through the middle than Laney. How old is he? I'm guessing he's a boy?
Well, I don't really know how old Cleveland is. I got him from a rescue organization too, last April, in fact. They said he was 1 year old when I got him, so I expect he's about a year and half. He's put on some weight since that picture was taken, but mostly it's muscle as he is quite the runner! I wish he would put on more weight, but his disinterest in food make it a bit difficult, without just feeding him total junk. Anyway, Laney is great, email me, I'd love to find out if they share other personality traits. azipkes (at) mac (dot) com.
