Getting Ready...

I'm gearing up and getting in shape for Mutt Strut on Sunday! Can't wait!
Though, Mom fears I'll be more intent on checking out the other dogs than walking. And because the Vet found a sore on my neck, most likely from pulling on my leash occasionally... Mom bought a no-pull harness for me. I'm used to my seat belt being around my chest, so this didn't bother me at all. And best yet, mom says I barely pull at all! I'll make sure mom takes a picture of me wearing it next time we're out and about.

Oh yeah... and we're celebrating my "Gotcha Day/Birthday" on Sunday too! I don't know what that means, but Mom says there will be treats!

Don't Ask

I can be a little silly. I like to make Mom laugh!
Who says I need to sleep ON my bed?

Actually, I wasn’t sleeping under there. I was playing with a ball, and scooted it under there. Then it just seemed comfy.

I tend to stop whatever I’m doing when Mom takes out the camera though.

And for your amusement, here’s a video where Mom is trying to figure out what I’m doing:

Helping and Another Meme

Mom may want you to think she did that wiener dog drawing all on her own, but I helped out quite a bit.

IMG_1327

But soon, I got bored and had to surf my blogging buddies.

We’re a bit behind, but my new friend Brind'Amour tagged me for a short meme: 5 Random Things About Me

1) I let food sit in my bowl for days. If Mom gives me a little human food, I inhale it. But Mom has tried numerous kibble brands and adding things to it to make me want to eat dog food that is balanced for my nutrition needs.

2) I’ve become scared of little dogs I don’t know. The last few times that I’ve been hurt at the park, have been from little dogs. So, when I see a new little dog I don’t know, I usually send them a warning growl to stay away. I don’t mind big dogs though. The bigger they are, the more interested I am!

3) Every time I hear a doorbell on TV, I jump up. I think it’s our doorbell and start barking to send the intruders away.

4) Every time Mom gives me a hug, I’ll continue to lean against her and slowly fall against her lap for cuddle time and a nap.

5) It’s been almost a year since Mom brought me home from the Humane Society, and I’ve never once pottied indoors. I have a bladder of steel and sometimes won’t go for close to 24 hours (by choice). Mom gives me plenty of opportunity, but I don’t drink a lot anyway.

Anyone who wants to do this meme, consider yourself tagged!

Here's Mom's latest drawing of a Dachshund that I think looks a lot like Lorenza!

Doggie Egg Hunt!

As I mentioned yesterday, I went to a Doggie Egg Hunt on Saturday! It was sponsored by my favorite place – 3 Dog Bakery! It only cost $5, and all proceeds went to a local rescue. They handed us a bag and said we could find up to 10 eggs spread around the park within these big, orange cones.

A lot of people and dogs were already there and were waiting throughout the park. Mom took me on a little walk around to calm me down and let me sniff some friendly-looking dogs.

Then, FINALLY, the whistle blew and we were off! We came upon several eggs right away. They were filled with dog treats and coupons for free baked goods at 3 Dog Bakery! Yum! I was really more interested in following the other dogs, but when Mom would point out an egg, I’d have to go check it out. Some eggs that I came across, I could smell my favorite cheese biscuits, so I’d take the egg in my mouth and break it open. But it tasted weird so I dropped it and let Mom deal with it.

Here’s all the loot I brought in! (Yes, that’s a bald spot on my side from where that little mini dachshund got me a while back. I hope the hair grows back!) All in all, it was a super fun day! When can we do that again?

After the walking around the park for a little bit more, we went and visited Mom’s friend and her new baby. And I met a really sweet, big dog named Otto. Yes, another push-over, my favorite kind of guy! Mom was shocked to see me actually giving him kisses, which she’s never seen me give another dog. Hey, Mom, that’s why they call it “Puppy Love”!

Playing With My Neighbor

Saturday, after a Doggie Easter Egg Hunt at a park in the city (which Mom promises to post pictures soon), we came back to enjoy a walk out in the neighborhood. This is my next-door neighbor Gyra. She’s a pretty Golden (yes, I have a LOT of Golden Retriever friends!), and we love to play. And like all my Golden friends, she lets me be the boss. I love big dogs! Here are some pics Mom took with her iPhone while we were wrestling.

Then, another neighbor dog caught our eye, since we didn’t recognize him. Our moms laughed when we sat right next to each other to check him out.

Another Meme

No, I was not throwing up in the first pic. I was just in mid-yawn. For some reason, Mom thinks this is funny. I do not. Looking like I'm dry-heaving is not attractive.

So I got this meme from Zeus, who's pretty cool for a cat:

I am...a big dog stuck in a little dog’s body.
I think...I have my grandpa wrapped around my little paw.
I know...how to manipulate both of my grandparents.
I want...to be with my Mom all the time, or at least have her in my field of vision.
I have...lots of toys!
I wish...Mom could stay home all day, every day with me.
I hate...baths!
I miss...Mom when she’s at work all day.
I fear...the groomer or boarding places, when they smell like a bunch of other dogs.
I feel...nonchalant most of the time.
I hear...every noise outside.
I smell...stinky after being outside.
I regret...getting over-excited during play when Mom has to correct me. An “Ah-ah” is all it takes.
I love...human food!
I care...about each visitor that comes in the door.
I always...have to know where my Mom is at all times, especially at the park.
I am not...independent.
I believe...I am the boss of all dogs at the park.
I dance...with my mom sometimes. It’s a fun trick that I like to do.
I sing...but it sounds more like whining.
I write...to tell my friends about all my adventures.
I win...when I play with my friend Gizmo, the Golden Retriever.
I lose...when I get in a fight with any dog. Curse my sensitive Shar Pei skin!
I never...potty indoors.
I listen...when I feel like it.
I can usually be found...sleeping.
I am scared when...the vacuum comes near me.
I read...all my friends’ blogs.
I forget...nothing.
I just...slept some more.
I am happy about...going on car rides with Mom.
I only...potty out in the fenced-in yard when Mom comes out with me.
I need...lots of cuddling time.
I wonder...if I will ever get any bigger. (Mom says no.)
I pounce...on my favorite toy at random times.

Days at the Park

I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been busy having fun at the dog park! I did get hurt a week ago Sunday by an ornery little miniature dachshund that looked a lot like Ruby! Though, Ruby is much sweeter than this little gal that came and ripped out a good chunk of hair from my side. But Mom continued to take me to the park since the weather was so nice, and just kept me in the “small dog area” when we didn’t know the other dogs. But I always had dogs to play with.

And yesterday we actually stayed out at the park 3 and a half hours, just enjoying the beautiful spring weather! I tired out after the first hour, but kept getting bursts of energy every time a new dog came in.

Gizmo loves to taunt me with sticks that he carries around. Yesterday, I was able to grab on and play tug-o-war with him! But after I growled a couple times, he let me have it. He’s such a softie! And Mom calls me a bully. But hey, I’m like a third of his size! It’s not my fault he doesn’t realize it’s not possible for me to hurt him!
And please don’t tell him. I like this game!

Mutt Strut

Mom and I are going to participate in Mutt Strut this year! Check out our cool page here: http://register.indymuttstrut.org/goto/angela_and_laney

It's a fun way to benefit the Indy Humane Society!
And want to hear something cool? This year, it falls on my Adoption Day!
Mom thought that was very neat, since she adopted me from a neighboring Humane Society last year on the same day! Mom will probably be full of happy tears that day. And me? I'll be busy meeting all kinds of new dogs on our walk around the race track. And the best part is we'll be helping out other dogs, just like me, find their forever homes.
