Days at the Park

I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been busy having fun at the dog park! I did get hurt a week ago Sunday by an ornery little miniature dachshund that looked a lot like Ruby! Though, Ruby is much sweeter than this little gal that came and ripped out a good chunk of hair from my side. But Mom continued to take me to the park since the weather was so nice, and just kept me in the “small dog area” when we didn’t know the other dogs. But I always had dogs to play with.

And yesterday we actually stayed out at the park 3 and a half hours, just enjoying the beautiful spring weather! I tired out after the first hour, but kept getting bursts of energy every time a new dog came in.

Gizmo loves to taunt me with sticks that he carries around. Yesterday, I was able to grab on and play tug-o-war with him! But after I growled a couple times, he let me have it. He’s such a softie! And Mom calls me a bully. But hey, I’m like a third of his size! It’s not my fault he doesn’t realize it’s not possible for me to hurt him!
And please don’t tell him. I like this game!

Hi Laney
We did miss you and wondered where you were.
We are really sorry you got hurt but you seem to be having fun in your pictures.
Dont let one grumpy dog ruin it for you.
We dont think you are a bully at all - sure you are just having fun!

We've missed you. You ditched us for the other dogs at the dog park but we understand after seeing the pictures. What a great tug-o-war you had. That's one of our most favorite games. Enjoy this weather - Spring is finally here!

It looks like you had a lot of fun at the park, even though you had the misfortune of getting bit. We're wondering how our human pet would have reacted if some strange dog had attacked her incoming puppy. Any suggestions?

Hey Zeus, how old will your puppy be? Most dogs are pretty good with puppies. If anything the puppy will run or be completely submissive to other dogs when confronted, so you shouldn't have problems like I do. But on the off chance your pup doesn't back down, like me, then your human should separate the dogs immediately and check the pup over for any injuries. If there aren't any then, just try to take your pup to another area of the park away from the aggressive one. If your pup is hurt, make sure to alert the dog park owner/worker. Usually, they'll have a "3 times and you're out" policy on aggressive dogs. If there have been other complaints on that dog, they'll probably be told not to come back.

Hi Laney
We're sorry you got bit. Sometimes dachshunds can be ornery, we were bred to hunt badgers. I'm so glad I'm laid back.
Glad your having fun, playing with the fun dogs.

Its important to find friends that understand how you like to play, no matter what their size.
